We've had an action packed week, so here is a summary of several key items to ensure we are on the same page. In addition, I've asked a favor of the design teams as we head into a few weeks of individual design work.
The recording from the Designers for Learning webinar #33 held on Wednesday, September 9th is now posted. This was a special meeting for the Open ABE Design Team. We reviewed the design plan for our open online course, and divided designer assignments.
To both design teams: As a follow up to our September 2nd meeting, I sent an email to the design teams with several housekeeping items. This post is a recap of that email.
The recording from the Designers for Learning webinar #32 held on Wednesday, September 2nd is now posted. We kicked off our latest instructional design project with a brief live webinar to welcome our volunteers. The objective of the webinar was to (a) welcome volunteers to the project team, (b) provide a general overview of the project, and (c) field questions / comments about direction and next steps.
As we kick off the design portion of our project, I want to welcome those who will be the facilitators of the Open Adult Basic Education (Open ABE) MOOC next year. Given that your volunteer efforts won't start for several months, please consider this an invite to lurk (or not) this fall. Hang tight ... your expertise will soon be put to good use!
As we await our upcoming Wednesday, September 2nd webinar, I ask that you begin to dip your toe into our project. Over the next week, please read this post and take an hour or so to skim the materials linked within the post to gain initial insight into our learners and the instructional need.
As we wrap up the Spring 2015 instructional design service-learning project facilitated by members of the Graduate Student Assembly (GSA) of the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) and Designers for Learning, we have a few remaining housekeeping items to share: Letter of Recognition: All student participants were sent (via email) Letters of Recognition to acknowledge their successful completion of the volunteer service-learning project for the benefit of Grace Centers of Hope. If you did not receive this email with your Letter of Recognition attached, please let us know. Reminder to Update your Portfolio / CV / Resume: We are often asked for suggestions [...]
Hurrah!!! All teams have submitted their final deliverables, and I want to formally acknowledge tonight's conclusion of the Spring 2015 cohort with a note of thanks to all participants! To view all deliverables submitted by the three design teams (including Design Plans, Prototypes, and Final Deliverables), please see http://studio.designersforlearning.org/spring2015gch/spring-2015-service-learners/ To cohort participants, please keep an eye out for an email this week with your service-learning Letter of Recognition, as well as other final "housekeeping" information (e.g. optional showcase webinar, AECT convention preparation, etc.) to close out the project. We hope you enjoyed and benefited from this experience! In addition, we appreciate the detailed [...]
As we look ahead to the final two weeks of the project, we ask all designers in the Spring 2015 cohort to please complete your final Individual Reflection on or before April 27th. Here is the link to the online form: http://studio.designersforlearning.org/reflection-submission/ The reflection includes a question prompt regarding any needed last minute design help, but also several questions that give the designers the opportunity to provide us feedback on the efficacy and efficiency of this service-learning experience. It is VERY important that we get 100% participation on this last reflection as the feedback is vital to helping us to refine and improve [...]
Here is the recording for the April 14, 2015 webinar: Webinar Recording Agenda and Meeting Notes The purpose of this webinar was to offer designers a live forum to ask questions of the facilitators, mentors, and client subject matter experts as the designers prepare their final deliverables. Touch base with any questions. Thank you!
